National Laboratory Services Chemists

Stewart Cusator

Stewart spent 22 years with Hewlett Packard and Agilent Technologies supporting instruments for chemical analysis: GC, GCMS, LC, LCMS, UV/VIS, and lab data systems.

In 2001 Stewart moved to Isotechnika to support their drug discovery and development activities. Ultimately this also involved supporting building HVAC systems as well as instruments involved in clinical diagnosis of h. Pylori.

Currently in semi-retirement, he continues to support the analytical chemistry community with training, troubleshooting and incorporating new instruments into current laboratory workflow, His particular area of expertise being GCMS and LCMS. He operates a small isotope ratio reference lab in order to support the h. Plyori Urea Breath Test community with parts, repairs, consulting, and custom 13CO2/12CO2 isotope gas reference blends.

Emily Kirkham

Emily is the founder and principal owner of National Laboratory Services Inc. She is a professional chemist specializing in method development and validation, GMP, quality control and technical training. She brings over 25 years of experience in various analytical laboratories, including pharmaceutical, environmental, food, oil and gas and nutraceuticals.

Emily focuses on supporting laboratories through their development stages; whether you want to start from the ground up, or you are working through the challenges of your first or ninety-first audit, Emily can provide you with the support you need to overcome any technical or quality systems challenge.

Emily is a member of the professional chemists of British Columbia and holds a degree in chemistry from McGill University.

Brent Loshney

Meet Brent Loshney, an accomplished chemist who operates Chiral Laboratories, an analytical research and development laboratory located at the University of Victoria’s Vancouver Island Technology Park in Victoria BC, that he founded a decade ago.

An Entrepreneur at heart Brent seeks out tough challenges and strives to solve complex problems. With interests in analytical chemistry he has developed and implemented methodologies ranging from trace chemical residue analysis to quality control of raw and finished health products utilizing chromatography, spectroscopy and spectrometry techniques.

Special projects have led to the development of unique separations of chiral enantiomers and speciated organo-metallic compounds. He has special research interests in extraction, isolation and identification of active compounds from natural sources with applications in the health sciences. Brent is a member of the professional chemists of British Columbia and holds a degree in chemistry from University of British Columbia Okanagan.

Pat Steffes

Patrick Steffes has 30 years of experience in the analytical instrumentation business, including service, sales, and management. He has formal training on a variety of analytical instrument and software platforms, qualification delivery and custom software.

He has consulted at laboratories across North and South America. He has delivered hundreds of technical courses and presentations on laboratory instrumentation and software. He has provided method optimization and method development services on LC, GC, LCMS, GCMS, CE and IC in a diverse range of laboratories.

Pat specializes in regulatory processes associated with analytical instrumentation: GMP documentation, procedures, qualification and validation systems in regulated environments.

Patrick is a Professional Chemist registered with ACPA, a member of the Chemical Institute of Canada, and a huge nerd.
